Found in The Hague at an old food office! A mechanical calculator from Brunsviga from the first half of the 20th century. The predecessor of the electric and digital calculators.

Brunsviga Maschinenwerke Grimme, Natalis & Co AG is the company from 1871 that originally made sewing machines and household appliances. When engineer Franz Trinks took over the patent of the famous William Odhner calculators in 1892 (Arithmometer), Grimme, Natalis & Co started making calculators under the name of Brunsviga. Brunviga is Latin for Braunschweig, the place where this calculator was made. The company name contains AG which stands for Aktiengesellschaft. This machine was later renamed Olympia.

This heavy calculator works very well considering its age. Of course there are traces of old age. The calculator is also very interesting decoratively due to its robust, sturdy army green appearance and, due to its size, fits on a desk or in a cupboard and invites you to have a conversation.

    18×20×30 (cm) Weight: 7.5 kg.

Now that we work from home more and we sometimes set up a separate room for it if possible, it is also the time to create a nice room. What does it take now? That depends on what you like.
